【生境分布】
生态环境：生于海拔1900-3200m的石灰岩山地、向阳山坡地或开旷的草地。
资源分布：分布于贵州、云南、西藏等地。

【化学成份】从姜味草全草挥发油中分离并鉴定出24个成分：苯甲醛（phenyl aldehyde)，6-甲基-5-庚烯-2-醇（6-methyl-5-hepten-2-ol)，6-甲基-5-庚烯-2-酮（6-methyl-5-hepten-2-one)，1-环已烯-1-甲基酮（1-cyclohexenyl-1-methyl detone)，柠檬烯（limo-nene)，顺-氧化芳樟醇（cis-linalool oxide)，反-氧化芳樟醇（trans-methyl-3,5-heptadien-2-one)，侧柏酮（thujone)，3-对-孟烯-9-醇（3-p-menthen-9-ol) ，氧化戊二烯（pentadiene oxide)，顺-葛缕酮（cis-carveol)，橙花醛（neral），牻牛儿醇（geraniol)，牻牛儿本醛（geranial)，百里香酚（thymol)，乙酸香茅酯（citronellyl acetate)，乙酸橙花酯（neryl acetate)，牻牛儿醇乙酸酯（geranyl acetate)，β-丁香烯（β-caryophyllene)，葎草烯（humulene)，γ-衣兰油烯（γ-muurolene)和ξ-毕澄茄烯（ξ-cadinene)[1] 。
